Frederick “Rick” Lorenzen, the founder and guiding force behind Rancho Dominguez, California-based Price Transfer, passed away surrounded by family on June 16. He was 82.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on June 20 hosted the webinar, De minimis: Back to Basics, which provided an informative overview of the basic filing requirements and data quality for the importation of de minimis shipments.

Beginning Aug. 1, 2024, a new rule published by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will require all dogs entering the U.S. to appear healthy upon arrival, be at least six months of age, be microchipped, and be accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt previously submitted to CDC online.

The committee and counsel also continue to track the latest CBP IEEPA tariff guidance and provide updates to NCBFAA members as soon as they’re received.

The Executive Order effectively ended de minimis duty-free treatment under 19 U.S.C. § 1321(a)(2)(C) for all shipments entering the U.S., including via international mail.
