The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced a Wood Packaging Material Webinar on Thursday, July 10, from 1-2 p.m. ET. The agencies will provide an overview of WPM regulations and resources, along with CBP’s posture for enforcement.

The Committee for the Statistical Annotation of Tariff Schedules, better known as the 484(f) Committee, has posted changes to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Schedule B (Exports) which take effect July 1.

The NCBFAA Customs Committee and Counsel of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., continue to contribute and monitor these FAQs for updates which are important to our customs broker members.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said it will update the Electronic Export Manifest (EEM) disposition codes for AIR IATA to promote accurate formatting in the EEM party details. The EEM data elements must be submitted in the correct segment outlined in the EEM Implementation Guides (IGs).

The NCBFAA Customs Committee In-Bond Subcommittee recently worked with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to create the INBND-009 In-Bond Shipment Status report to assist in-bond filers to identify in-bonds that are not in a closed status.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on June 20 deployed the Forced Labor Allegation Portal, allowing trade users to submit forced labor allegations. Allegations may be submitted anonymously, and users will be able to view and upload supporting documents related to their submissions.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Saturday, June 28, deployed an enhancement in the ACE Production environment that will increase the number of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers to 32 allowed per entry summary line.

Editorial changes have been made to all affected IATA Resolutions and Recommended Practices for passenger and cargo claims to reflect the revised liability limits without further Conference action required. IATA Resolutions 600i and 672, and IATA Recommended Practice 1679 have been updated to reflect the same change. The corresponding changes to Resolution 600b took effect on June 28, 2025.

A group of 94 trade associations, which were led by the NCBFAA, National Retail Federation (NRF), and National Industrial Transportation League (NITL), sent a letter on Friday, June 27, to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Rodney Scott, as well as to the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committee Leadership, requesting answers to questions regarding ongoing concerns and challenges with the interpretation of the “in transit” reciprocal tariff exclusion and relay vessels.
